EARLY LIFE

He was the second child in the family and has represented his home city of Daejeon at a national level in short-track speed racing. Because of an injury during his first year of high school, he had to give up his passion for skating. But this skating skill proved beneficial for him in the future when he got a role as a national team skater in the TV series “Triple”. He was a very brilliant student. He scored 380 out of 400 on his national college entrance test and got admission to Sungkyunkwan University.

Song’s first appearance on TV was on KBS’s Quiz Korea as a contestant, where he grabbed the second position. This gave him significant attention, and he became the cover model for the 

university magazine college.

Song made his acting debut in 2008 in a period film, “A Frozen Flower.” But he rose to fame after he played a role in the historical drama “Sungkyunkwan Scandal.” After this, he gave many television hits: Deep-Rooted Tree, a werewolf boy, an innocent man, etc. But after he played the military officer role in the drama “The Descendants of the Sun, ” he gained popularity worldwide. He recently played the part of the Italian mafia in the Netflix web series “Vincenzo”, which became the 4th most-watched Korean web series on Netflix in 2021. After its finale, this series became the 6th highest-rated drama in history. Everyone loved his destructive mafia role, and he gained a new fan base worldwide.
