Roger spent his childhood in Birsfelden, Riehen, and later shifted to Munchenstein. He was fond of football in his childhood and supported the Swiss Football team. He had served in the military and civil police protection forces of Switzerland. Roger debuted in Tennis in 1996 when he was 14 years old. He played in a grade 2 tournament in Switzerland.
