Nirmala Sitharaman is an Indian Politician & economist. She is the current Finance Minister of India. Nirmala is a Member of the Rajya Sabha. She has also been in the post of Defence Minister of India, the second woman to hold this position. She was also featured in the Forbes list of 100 most powerful women in the world.
Early Life
Nirmala Sitharaman was born on August 18, 1959, in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. She did her schooling in Madras & Tiruchirappalli. She did her graduation from Seethalakshmi Ramaswami college. She did her master’s from one of the top universities in the county, Jawaharlal Nehru University.
Career of Nirmala
Nirmala started her political career in 2006 after joining BJP. She was the spokesperson of the party in 2010. She became a junior cabinet minister in 2014 during the tenure of Narendra Modi. She was nominated as one of the 12 nominated members of the Rajya Sabha. She has been the Defence minister of India. Balakot Air Strike was done under her tenure in 2019. She is the current Finance Minister of India.
