Nitish Kumar is an Indian politician; he is currently the Chief Minister of Bihar. He is holding that post since 2015. He was the Chief Minister of Bihar from 2005 to 2014 also.
Early Life of Nitish Kumar
Nitish was born on March 1, 1951, in Bakhtiarpur which is in Bihar. He was born to Kaviraj Ram Lakhan Singh, his father who was an ayurvedic practitioner & Parmeshwari Devi. Nitish hails from a caste called Kurmi which is an agriculture caste.
He did his graduation from NIT, Patna in 1972. He started working in Bihar State Electricity Board but later joined politics. Nitish & Manju Kumari Sinha got married on February 22, 1973. Sadly Manju Kumari died suffering from pneumonia.
Career of Nitish
Nitish joined Janta Dal & became an MLA in 1985. Later in 1994, Nitish founded a party named Samata Pary. He was elected as an MLA in 1996 and served as Union Minister under the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Samata part later merged with Janta Dal & Nitish became its leader.
He became the Chief Minister of Bihar in 2005. He again became the Chief Minister with a landslide victory in 2010. He broke his alliance with BJP in 2013 & formed a separate party named Mahagathbandhan. Although he later resigned in 2014 when the party faced a terrific defeat.
In 2017 he finally returned to NDA. They won the 2020 state election & he became chief minister. But this alliance was short-lived and it was again broken in 2022.
