The United Kingdom has recently had a new king. Following the celestial passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, Charles III ascended the throne of the United Kingdom on September 8, 2022. Prior to ascending the throne, King Charles served as Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay, and held the title and honor of being the oldest and longest serving heir to the throne in the history of Great Britain. He’s also given the honor of being the longest serving Prince of Wales. He ascended the throne at the age of 73, making him the oldest king to ascend the British throne.
Birth, Early Life and Family
Charles Philip Arthur George or King Charles III was born at Buckingham Palace on November 14, 1948. He was the first child of his parents Elizabeth and Philip, who were then Duchess and Duke of Edinburgh. He was born during the reigns of his grandfather King George VI and his grandmother Queen Elizabeth. He spent his early school years at Cheam and Gordonstoun, where his father taught him as a child. He then attended the Timbertop Campus of Geelong Grammar School in Victoria for a year. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in art at the College of Cambridge. After graduation, he served in the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy for six years from 1971 to 1976. He married Lady Diana Spencer in 1981 and had sons Prince William and Prince Harry with her. Both had extramarital affairs that became public knowledge. Therefore, they divorced in 1996. Then in 2005 he married Camilla Parker Bowles.

Charles served as Prince of Wales, performing official duties on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II.
