Arvind Kejriwal is a politician & a former Joint Commissioner. He is the 7th chief minister of the capital of India, Delhi. He is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party. He won the Delhi Election with an astonishing majority by winning over 67 seats out of 70.
Early Life
Kejriwal was born on August 16, 1968, in Siwani, Haryana. He was born to Ram Kejriwal, his father & Gita Devi, his mother. He did his schooling at Campus School, Hisar. He graduated from the IIT, Kharagpur. After his graduation, he started working in Tata Steel in 1989, but later in 1992, he resigned to prepare for Civil Services. He also worked with Mother Teresa in Kolkata.
Career
Kejriwal started his career as a worker at Tata Steel. Although he later resigned & joined Indian Civil Services he got into conflicts when he demanded 2 years of paid leave. That leave was granted to him on the condition that he would not resign from the position after joining. He did join back after the unpaid leave but he was not given any task and he was getting paid for doing nothing. He then again applied for leave but this time it was an unpaid leave of two years & after that he resigned which threw him in conflict with the government of India. This dispute was solved in 2011 when he paid the 9,27,787 rupees to the state.
He get into politics when he established Aam Aadmi Party in 2012. He contested in the 2013 Delhi elections. No party got a clear majority and Aam Aadmi Party was able to win 28 seats out of 70. Although AAP was able to form a coalition government. Although he resigned from the post of Chief Minister. In the 2015 General Elections, he won with a historical majority. AAP won 67 seats out of 70. He has been the chief minister of Delhi ever since.
