Shah Rukh Khan and Shilpa Shetty’s Baazigar has one of the most famous scenes in Bollywood, where Shah Rukh’s character pushes Shilpa’s character off a terrace. Even after more than 30 years, the scene continues to be talked about. Now, Shilpa Shetty has finally shared an interesting story behind its filming.
In a recent interview, Shilpa revealed that there was no VFX or CGI at the time. The entire sequence was shot using string work. She said the scene took nearly four days to complete, and she had to give around 15 to 20 takes. According to her, if people watch the scene carefully today, they can still spot the string used during the shoot because the technology to erase it was not available back then.
Shilpa also described Baazigar as a film that was far ahead of its time and said it had a unique soul. Released in 1993, Baazigar marked Shilpa Shetty’s Bollywood debut. Directed by Abbas-Mustan, the film had Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in lead roles. Shilpa Shetty was only 18 years old when the film released and she also got a Filmfare nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
The songs Ae Mere Humsafar and Kitaben Bahut Si are still loved by people today. Made on a budget of about ₹4 crore, the film earned more than ₹32 crore and became one of the biggest hits of 1993.
