Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has reportedly received a serious threat from a gang demanding ₹20 crore as extortion money. According to reports, the threat came through an audio clip in which the caller warned that if the money was not paid, Rohit Shetty would be targeted directly.
The incident comes months after firing was reported outside his Juhu residence. As per police sources, the filmmaker’s staff recently received a 90-second audio message on Saturday morning. The clip is said to contain the voice of Shubham Lonkar, who is already wanted in connection with the 2024 Baba Siddique murder case and the 2026 firing outside Shetty’s house.
The audio has been handed over to the Mumbai Crime Branch, and a case is being registered by Juhu Police. Authorities have sent the clip for forensic analysis to confirm the voice.
Earlier, on January 31, five bullets were fired outside Rohit Shetty’s residence near Mahim Chowk in Juhu. The attack was linked to the Lawrence gang, and the shooter Deepak Sharma was later arrested from Agra. Investigations revealed he was influenced by social media posts connected to the gang.
In April, police filed a 1,624-page chargesheet naming 15 accused in the case, while two suspects were declared absconding.
On the work front, Shetty’s last release was Singham Again, which hit theatres on November 1, 2024, and earned around ₹372.4 crore worldwide. His next big project is Golmaal 5, expected to go on floors in early 2026 and release in 2027.
