EARLY LIFE OF TONKIN

She was born in Sydney, Australia. She was born to Nicholas Tonkin and Jennifer Tonkin. At the age of 4, she attended dance courses in classical ballet, hip-hop, tap dance and also contemporary dance. When she was 12, she started classes at the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) at the Wharf Theatre. It is in Sydney. At that place, she learnt about clownery, musicals, and Classical plays. Tonkin completed her graduation from Queenswood School for Girls. It is in Balmoral.

CAREER

In 2005, she first played the role of Cleo Sertori on the Australian Children’s television series H2O: Add Water. She was nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Television Series in 2008 at the prestigious Australian Film Institute Awards. In 2011, she moved to Los Angeles. There she pursued her law career.

In 2012, she was cast in the supernatural television drama series The Vampire Diaries. In that, she played Hayley Marshall. After that, she played the same role in the spin-off of The Originals.

In 2021, it was announced that Tonkin would starred in a horror film named Night Shift along with Lamorne Morris and Madison Hu. This film will be directed by Benjamin China and Paul Wesley.
