She was born in Sydney, Australia. She was born to Nicholas Tonkin and Jennifer Tonkin. At the age of 4, she attended dance courses in classical ballet, hip-hop, tap dance and also contemporary dance. When she was 12, she started classes at the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) at the Wharf Theatre. It is in Sydney. At that place, she learnt about clownery, musicals, and Classical plays. Tonkin completed her graduation from Queenswood School for Girls. It is in Balmoral.
CAREER
In 2005, she first played the role of Cleo Sertori on the Australian Children’s television series H2O: Add Water. She was nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Television Series in 2008 at the prestigious Australian Film Institute Awards. In 2011, she moved to Los Angeles. There she pursued her law career.
