Ansel Elgort is an American actor, singer and DJ. His acting career began in 2013 by playing a role in the horror movie ‘Carrie’. He is best known for playing the role of a teenage cancer patient in ‘The Fault in our Stars.

He was born in New York to Arthur Elgort, a fashion photographer and Grethe Barrett Holby, an opera director. His father has worked extensively for vogue magazine. He was named after prominent nature photographer Ansel Adams. His ancestors from his father’s side were Russian Jewish. He is of Norwegian, English and German ancestry on his mother’s side. He has an older sister named Sophie Elgort, who is a fashion photographer and a brother named Warren Elgort, who is a cinematographer. He went to the School of American Ballet for five years.

CAREER OF ANSEL ELGORT

Ansel Elgort made his film debut in 2013 with the remake of ‘Carrie’ which was a horror film. Before this, he had played the lead role in ‘Regrets’ released in March 2012. He gained widespread recognition for playing the role of Caleb Prior, the brother of the main character in the ‘Divergent Series’. After the filming of ‘Divergent’ was finished, he announced that he would play the role of Augustus Waters, a teenage cancer patient, opposite Shailene Woodley in the film adaptation of ‘The Fault in our Stars’. Ansel Elgort lives in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. In April 2020, he started a fundraising project for those affected by COVID-19. For the fundraising, he posted a nude photograph of himself on his social media account. In June 2020, Elgort was by a woman on Twitter for sexually assaulting her in 2014, when she was 17 and Elgort was 20. Elgort denied these allegations and said that they both had had a ‘brief, legal and consensual’ relationship. In another case, he was accused by a Twitter user of sending obscene pictures. This tweet was deleted by the owner later.
