The making of a legendry author
Paulo was born on August 24, 1947, in the State of Rio de Janeiro. He hails from an orthodox catholic family in brazil his parents were strict about religion and faith. He attended a Jesuit school his passion for writing was sparked in his teenage. Although he was stopped by his mother at the age of 17 due to his rebellious attitude and his opposition and introversion led to his parents committing him to a mental institution from which he escaped at the age of 20.
Due to parental pressure, Paulo joined a law school abandoning his dream of becoming an author. But destiny had some other plans he dropped law school in 1st year and later lived his life as a hippie. Traveling to several places like America Africa Mexico. Upon his return to Brazil, he worked as a songwriter composing songs for Elias and Reeta due to the content of some songs. He was arrested by the ruling military government for subversive activities.
He also worked as a journalist, actor, and theatre director before pursuing his writing career.1986 was the turning point in his life. He walked 500-plus miles in Santiago in this walk Paulo had his spiritual awakening. Paulo left his lucrative career as a songwriter and composer and pursued full-time writing.

Paulo published his first book in 1992, infected by renewed interest in Catholicism which was republished in English and titled the pilgrimage in 1988. He published a bestselling book that changed his life forever “THE ALCHEMIST”.
