Supreme Court gives green signal to 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'

A day before the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', the Supreme Court has got a big relief. The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition seeking a stay on the release of the film. A bench of Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice JK Maheshwari cleared the release of the film Gangubai Kathiawadi. Objecting to the Gangubai Kathiawadi title, there was a demand to change it.

To this the producer said that it is not possible to change the name at the last moment. However, in the hearing held on Wednesday, the Supreme Court had advised Sanjay Leela Bhansali to change the title. A bench of Justices Indira Banerjee and JK Maheshwari dismissed the petition of petitioner Babuji Rao Ji Shah, who claimed to be the adopted son of Gangubai. Shah alleges that his mother has been portrayed in the film and book as a prostitute, brothel keeper and mafia queen.
