Pakistan which is always in dispute, is now embroiled in another crisis. Samuel Brownback, america’s top diplomat for international religious freedom, has claimed that Pakistan is propagating Hindu and Christian women in China as concubine and forced brides and is forcibly conducting marriages.
Talking about such reports on Tuesday, Brownback said that a source of forced brides for Chinese men is religious minorities, Christians and Hindu women. There, they are being propagated as concubines and they are being forcibly married in China. This is mainly happening from Pakistan.
He said that this is because there is no effective assistance and there is discrimination against religious minorities, which has worsened their situation. He said this is another reason why Pakistan should declare a country of special concern (CPC) under the International Religious Freedom Act.
It may be noted that in December last year a news agency had released a list of 629 Pakistani girls and women who were sold to Chinese men as brides. These women were forcibly taken to China between 2018 and the beginning of 2019. The list was prepared by Pakistan investigators.
