Bernard started his career as president of Ferret Savinel. He held that position from 1978 to 1984. He then acquired a luxury goods company named Financiere Agache. He fired 9000 workers because of which he was nicknamed The Terminator. He made the company profitable by 1987 and the sales were 1.9 billion dollars back in 1987. He established LVHM a luxury apparel brand. The current market capitalization of the company is 321 billion dollars and Bernard Arnault is the largest stakeholder in the company making him the second richest person in the world.
