Early Life of Harish
Harish Salve, one of the preeminent lawyers of India was born on 25th June 1955. He completed his Chartered Accountancy from ICAI and completed his LLB from Nagpur University. He started his law career as an intern in 1980 at J.B DADACHANDJI & COMPANY and then joined the same firm as a lawyer. From 1980 to 1986 harish worked with the former attorney general, Soli Sorabjee.
 Nani Palkivala was his idol. He was so inspired by Nani Palkivala that he attributed him by saying that “from him, I learned that genius is a lot of hard work. It entails having the capacity to do what people find boring. Palkivala taught me to make excellence an end unto itself. He used to say that the measure of how well you have argued in the court comes not from the decision of the court, but from how you feel you have performed.
The Career of Harish
Harish Salve’s journey from Chararted Accountant to an advocate was influenced by various factors but in the end, it was his destiny and it was also the destiny of India to have such a great lawyer.
He did his Chararted Accountancy from ICAI and LLB from Nagpur University. His father had given up accountancy and did only income tax matters which brought him close to Nani Palkivala. Similarly, Harish found that he finds income tax matters much more interesting than others. He was influenced by Nani Palkivala and he started his journey as a lawyer.

Landmark Cases
Being one of the influential advocates, he handled many cases in the corporate sector. Harish got recognition when he argued his first case of anti-dumping in the Supreme Court of India. He also appeared in the Krishna Godavari Basin Gas Dispute Case. He had also appeared in the biggest Vodafone scandal of a $2.5 billion tax dispute.
He lost this case in the Bombay High Court but ultimately won the case in Supreme Court. He had also represented Blikis Bano in the Gujarat riots. Being a representative in all these cases Harish Salve has an important role in Indian legal history.
