Salman Khan may soon play Karna in a big film based on the Mahabharata.
Salman Khan Might Appear as Karna
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the film will be directed by National Award winner Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, while Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment will produce it. It is reported that Salman loved the script and immediately agreed to the project. He may undergo a significant makeover to bring the character of Karna to life on screen. However, the makers have not yet made an official announcement.
On the work front, Salman’s next theatrical release will be ‘Matrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace’, co-starring Chitrangada Singh. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is expected to hit theaters on August 14, 2026. It was previously titled ‘Battle of Galwan’.
Additionally, Salman is currently busy shooting for Vamshi Paidipally’s action film ‘SVC63’. Nayanthara will share the screen with him for the first time in this movie, which is scheduled for release on Eid 2027.
Reports also suggest that Salman is set to venture into the superhero genre for the first time. Atul Agnihotri will produce this superhero comedy film, which will be directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK. If everything goes according to plan, Salman could begin shooting for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s period film in the summer of 2027, following the completion of this project.
