Inspired by legendary crime writer Surender Mohan Pathak’s popular novel Maut Ka Khel, Vimal Khanna arrives as a sharp and engaging thriller that blends suspense, emotion, and survival drama quite effectively. Produced by Piyush Dinesh Gupta under the banner Naam Mein Kya Rakha Hai, the series has quickly caught viewers’ attention for its fast-paced storytelling and tense atmosphere.
At the center of the show is Sunny Hinduja, who delivers one of his strongest performances in recent years. He plays Vimal, a man accused of murdering his own brother and sentenced to death for a crime he insists he never committed. After escaping police custody, he disappears into Mumbai, hoping to survive long enough to prove his innocence. What follows is not just a crime thriller, but also the story of a man trying to hold himself together while the world closes in around him.
The series becomes even more interesting when Vimal crosses paths with Amrita Das, played by Isha Talwar. She is a wealthy and influential businesswoman managing a massive empire while caring for her critically ill husband. Vimal accepts a job as a caretaker inside her luxurious mansion, believing it to be the safest place to hide. But the house carries dark secrets of its own, and soon he finds himself trapped inside another dangerous game involving betrayal, manipulation, and murder.
Director Abhinav keeps the storytelling tight and focused. The pacing rarely slows down, which works well for a thriller like this. The screenplay smartly balances mystery with emotional moments, making the audience care about the characters instead of simply chasing twists. Credit also goes to creative producers Saket Chaudhary and Piyush Dinesh Gupta for giving the story a modern touch while still preserving the classic pulp-thriller flavor that Surender Mohan Pathak’s readers love.
Technically, the show looks polished and cinematic. The camera work captures two very different sides of Mumbai beautifully. On one hand, there are crowded streets and grimy alleys filled with tension. On the other, there are lavish mansions that feel cold, silent, and intimidating. The production design adds authenticity throughout the series and helps create a believable world.
The supporting cast, including Akshay Anand, Sonal Singh, Neelu Ji, and Paale Ji Mahir, performs well in their respective roles. While some side characters could have been written with greater depth, they still contribute meaningfully to the overall tension and drama.
What truly works in Vimal Khanna is its ability to remain entertaining without becoming overly complicated. The suspense stays alive till the final moments, and the emotional weight behind Vimal’s struggle keeps the story grounded. There are a few moments where the direction could have been sharper, especially in scenes involving secondary characters, but these flaws never seriously damage the experience.
