Virender Sehwag is an ex-cricketer who hails from India and was born on October 20th, 1978. From 1999 to 2013, he was India’s representative. He was a member of the Delhi and Haryana teams in the competitions in India. Throughout his whole career as a player, he was known for his aggressive opening batsman style.

Considered by many to be one of the most destructive batters in the history of the game. Sehwag was an aggressive right-handed opening batsman who also bowled part-time right-arm off-spin. He bowled right-arm off-spin when he wasn’t batting.

CAREER

In his first One-Day International (ODI), Sehwag was bowled leg before wicket by Shoaib Akhtar while playing against Pakistan in Mohali in April 1999. As a result of his ineffective bowling, he was responsible for the loss of 35 runs in just three overs. After that, he was absent from the national team for a period of twenty months. After that, it was not until the home series against Zimbabwe in December of 2000 that Sehwag returned to the field. When Sehwag scored 58 runs off 54 balls in the fourth one-day international match played against Australia in Bangalore in March 2001, he shot to fame. Because of his three wickets, India was victorious, and he was awarded the man-of-the-match trophy for the very first time. Around the middle of 2001, he embarked on a fruitless tour of Zimbabwe.

When Sehwag was promoted to start the tri-series against New Zealand in August of 2001 in Sri Lanka, he made his first appearance for his country in an international competition. Because the usual opener Sachin Tendulkar was unable to play due to a foot injury, he was allowed to start the innings. In the championship match against New Zealand, he reached his first century after hitting it off 69 balls.
