Sudha Murthy is an Indian social worker, teacher, and author. She is best known for her work with the Infosys Foundation, which she founded in 1996. The Foundation works to promote social and economic development in India.
Early Life
Murthy was born in 1950 in Shiggaon, Karnataka into a Kannada Deshasta Madhva Family . She is the daughter of R.H Kulkarni, a surgeon, and Vimala Kulkarni, a school teacher. She graduated from the University of Mysore with a degree in electrical engineering. She then went on to earn a master’s degree in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
Career :
Murthy began her career as a software engineer with India’s largest software company, TCS. as the first woman to join . She later joined Infosys, where she worked for several years before taking on the role of chairperson of the Infosys Foundation.
Murthy has written several books, including a collection of short stories, a novel, and a book on her experiences as a social worker.
