Shreya Ghoshal is a singer and television personality from India. SHREYA GHOSHAL EARLY LIFE
Shreya Ghoshal was born on March 12, 1984, in Murshidabad, West Bengal, to a Bengali family. She grew up in Rawatbhata, a small village in Rajasthan near Kota. Bishwajit Ghoshal, her father, is an electrical engineer who works for the Nuclear Power Corporation of India. Sarmistha Ghoshal, her mother, is a literature postgraduate. Soumyadeep Ghoshal is her younger brother. She began learning music at the age of four. Ghoshal went to Rawatbhata’s Atomic Energy Central School No.4, where she was a classmate of Twitter’s previous CEO, Parag Agrawal.

Ghoshal grabbed the eye of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali when she participated in the 75th children’s special edition of Sa Re Ga Ma. Bhansali’s mother was watching the show and phoned him to see Ghoshal’s performance, after which he decided to cast her in his next film. According to Bhansali, Ghoshal’s voice held the purity essential for the character of Paro in Devdas (2002). Ghoshal won her second National Film Award for her performance in Paheli of “Dheere Jalna,” which she shared with Sonu Nigam. After singing for films like U Me Aur Hum, Sirf, Ghatothkach, Dashavatar, Mere Baap Pehle Aap, De Taali, Haal-e-Dil, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, and Kismat Konnection, Ghoshal recorded another popular song for Singh Is Kinng (2008), titled “Teri Ore,” written by Pritam Chakraborty. Ghoshal began 2019 with two classical pieces for Abhishek Varman’s historical film Kalank, “Ghar More Pardesiya” and “Tabah Ho Gaye,” for which she earned a Zee Cine Award for Best Female Playback Singer. Later that year, she was heard as the primary vocalist on Kiske Liye, a first, alongside fellow singer and rapper Mellow D.
