Shraddha Kapoor’s upcoming film * Eetha’* has landed in controversy even before its release. The film is based on the life of famous Lavani artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar. After the teaser was released, the film’s title became a topic of controversy. First, the NCP raised objections, and now Vithabai’s family has also asked the makers to change the title.
Vithabai’s sons and grandson have asked the makers to change the film’s title. They say that because the film is based on Vithabai’s life, her name should be part of the title. Earlier, the NCP and Maharashtra Cultural Department chief Baba Saheb Patil had also raised the same concern. So far, the filmmakers have not responded to the controversy.
The film is scheduled to release on August 28, 2026. It is directed by Laxman Utekar, known for directing films such as Chhaava, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, and Mimi. Alongside Shraddha Kapoor, Randeep Hooda and Anant Joshi will also appear in pivotal roles. The film’s teaser was released on June 23. Vithabai Narayangaonkar was counted among Maharashtra’s most celebrated Lavani and Tamasha artists.
