The 5,000 mAh battery given in the phone is its main feature. Redmi 8 has been launched in India in two storage variants with the base variant priced at Rs 7,999. The phone can be purchased in Onyx Black, Ruby Red and Sapphire Blue color options.

The phone has been introduced on octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset and is based on Android Pie based MIUI 10. Dual rear camera setup has been given in the phone. Which has a 12-megapixel primary sensor with f / 1.8 lens and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. While for the convenience of video calling and selfie, the phone has an 8 megapixel front camera. For power backup, the phone has a 5000 mAh battery with 18 W fast charging support. It has a Type-C slot and fingerprint sensor for charging.
