The first teaser for the film Ramayana, currently being directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is set to be released in India this Thursday. During a special event held in Los Angeles, Ranbir Kapoor revealed that when he was first offered the film, he had turned it down. He felt that he did not consider himself worthy of portraying such a magnificent and ideal character as Lord Ram. However, following the birth of his daughter, Raha, in 2022, his perspective shifted, and he ultimately decided to take on the project. Now, Ranbir Kapoor will be seen in the role of Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi will portray Mata Sita.
Ranbir Kapoor stated that preparing for this role has been, for him, not merely an acting exercise but a deeply emotional and spiritual journey. He shared that ever since watching Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana, he has harbored a profound sense of respect and connection to both the story and the character. He believes that portraying Lord Ram is a monumental responsibility one that carries the faith of millions of people and he is therefore committed to fulfilling it with absolute sincerity.
Film producer Namit Malhotra shared that Ramayana will be made in two parts with a huge budget of around ₹4,000 crore, making it one of India’s biggest films ever. A special highlight is that Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman are working together for the first time to create the music. The film will also feature Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey in important roles, making it even more exciting.
