Pakistani troops opened fire and fired shells from mortars targeting the forward posts and villages along the Line of Control and the international border in Poonch and Kathua districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials gave this information on Saturday. He said the firing on border was done without provocation and mortar shells were fired, to which Indian soldiers responded with a befitting reply.
A defense spokesman said that at about 11.40 am in the morning, Pakistan violated ceasefire by firing small arms and mortar along the Line of Control in Balakot sector of Poonch. Pakistan later opened fire in the forward areas in Kasba and Kirani sectors of the district from four o’clock.
The Indian Army has given a befitting reply. Indian side had not received any news of any damage.
Officials also said that Pakistani Rangers have tried to target villages starting from the inner border in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district.
The firing started at around 9.50 pm on Friday night from across the border in the Pansar border outpost of Hiranagar sector. However, Border Security Force (BSF) responded to this firing.
