The controversy surrounding the song “Sarke Chunar Teri” from the film KD: The Devil continues to escalate, thereby compounding Nora Fatehi’s difficulties. On April 6, she failed to appear in person for the hearing conducted by the National Commission for Women, sending her lawyer in her stead. Expressing her displeasure over this, the Commission’s Chairperson, Vijaya Rahatkar, stated that the song’s lyrics are derogatory to the dignity of women and that such content cannot be justified under the guise of artistic creativity. However, the other individuals present at the hearing acknowledged the song’s objectionable nature, offered an apology, and pledged to work towards the cause of women’s empowerment.
A summons has also been issued to Sanjay Dutt in connection with this matter, directing him to appear on April 8, while Nora Fatehi has been granted a final opportunity to appear on April 27. In her defense, Nora said she wasn’t told the true meaning of the song. She claimed it was shot with a wrong translation, and later a Hindi version using her AI image was released without her permission, which shocked her.
Released on March 14, the song instantly went viral on social media; however, it faced severe criticism from the public due to its double-entendre lyrics and dance choreography. Amidst the escalating controversy, the track was subsequently removed from YouTube. KD: The Devil is a major Pan-India film directed by Prem, featuring Dhruva Sarja in the lead role.
