The Madhya Pradesh government has ordered an inquiry over the death of eight children in a government hospital in Shahdol district within last few days.
These children were admitted to the Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) and Pediatric Integration Care Unit (PICU) of Shahdol District Hospital. Shahdol’s Chief Medical and Health Officer Rajesh Pandey said on Tuesday that two more children aged two and three died on Monday night. These children were brought there for treatment from Anuppur district.
With the death of these two children, 8 children aged 4 months have also died between November 27 and November 30. These children were admitted to the SNCU and PICU of the district hospital. Pandey said that 33 children are currently admitted in the SNCU and PICU of the district hospital.
