EARLY LIFE

Megan Jovon Ruth Pete was born in San Antonio, Texas, on 15 February 1995. Her mother, Holly Thomas, moved to Houston right after her birth. At 14, Pete and her mother moved from Houston’s South Park area to Pearland, where they remained until Megan was 18. In 2013 Pete graduated from Pearland High School. Pete started making raps at the age of 14. When Pete finally got the chance to perform for Thomas at age 18, her mother insisted that she wait until age 21 to make rapping her career. Her mother said her lyrics were inappropriate for someone her age because they were too sexually explicit.

CAREER

She debuted as a studio artist in 2020 with the critically acclaimed Good News album, which made multiple year-end best album lists. With the remix of her song “Savage” (with Beyoncé) and her appearance on Cardi B’s single “WAP,” she achieved her first number-one singles on the US Billboard Hot 100. She appeared with Doja Cat in the 2021 remix of Ariana Grande’s “34+35,” which reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2020. Then, in 2021, she released her debut compilation album Something for Thee Hotties, which peaked at number ten on the Billboard 200 and gave birth to the smash song “Thot Shit,” which peaked at number twenty in the US and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance.

Megan Thee Stallion has won numerous honours, including a Billboard Women in Music Award, a Billboard Women in Music Award, five BET Hip Hop Awards, six BET Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, four American Music Awards, and three Grammy Awards. She followed Lauryn Hill in 1999 as the second female rapper to win Best New Artist at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.
