Comedian Madhur Virli is facing backlash after an old controversial video of his resurfaced online. She also suggested that male comedians should include women in their teams to better understand such sensitive issues.
Following the escalation of the controversy, Madhur Virli’s Instagram account disappeared from public view; reports suggest he has either deleted or deactivated it. He studied engineering at IIT Delhi and has hundreds of thousands of subscribers on his YouTube channel.
It is worth noting that comedian Praneet More has also been embroiled in controversy over the past few days regarding two videos from his show. Amid mounting criticism, he released a video apologizing and admitted that certain comments made during the show were inappropriate.
In a related incident, Himanshu Jangra who had made headlines for comments regarding a ₹370 biryani also issued a public apology. Meanwhile, Sejal Pawar, an MBBS student who appeared on the show, expressed regret over comments made concerning organs donated to the medical college. Following the controversy, the college administration has placed her on mandatory leave for 15 days; during this period, she is barred from entering the KEM Medical College and hostel premises.
