Rajasthan witnessed a sudden change in weather over the weekend. On Sunday morning, dense fog enveloped most districts, reducing visibility to less than 50 meters. Cities like Jaipur, Nagaur, Sikar, Dausa, Bharatpur, Barmer, Sriganganagar, Churu, Tonk, and Kota experienced slow-moving traffic with vehicles relying on headlights even during the daytime. As late as 11:30 AM, the sun remained obscured by thick fog.
Temperature Drops Below 20°C in 13 Cities
After two days of fluctuating weather, temperatures have started to decline across Rajasthan. On Saturday, 13 cities recorded daytime temperatures below 20°C. Daytime temperatures dropped by up to 9°C, while nighttime temperatures saw a dip of up to 5°C. This sudden cooling trend has left residents bracing for colder days ahead.
Mount Abu Records Lowest Temperature
According to the Jaipur Meteorological Center, the cold wave will dominate the state starting Sunday. A yellow alert for dense fog and cold wave conditions has been issued until December 31. Director Radheshyam Sharma reported that Mount Abu, the state’s only hill station, recorded the lowest nighttime temperature at 6°C.

The intense fog and cold wave pose challenges for both residents and travelers. Authorities advise:
- Avoiding early morning travel when visibility is at its lowest.
- Dressing warmly, especially for those venturing outdoors.
