The song ‘Chunari Chunari’ from Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film, ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’, has been making waves ever since its release. This track is a remake of the famous song from the 1999 superhit film, Biwi No. 1. However, Abhijeet Bhattacharya the singer of the original track was not at all impressed by its new version.
In an interview, Abhijeet remarked that listening to the new song felt to him as if a bhajan (devotional hymn) were playing. According to him, the original ‘Chunari Chunari’ was a romantic and energetic number, whereas the remake failed to capture that same essence. He also took a dig at Varun Dhawan, stating that simply utilizing old hit songs does not make one a Salman Khan. According to Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Salman Khan has a unique screen presence and star power that cannot be copied easily.

At the film’s trailer launch, Salman Khan also jokingly teased Varun Dhawan. Laughing, he remarked, “He has picked up yet another one of my songs.” In fact, Varun Dhawan has previously remade several of Salman Khan’s classic hits. These include songs such as ‘Oonchi Hai Building’, ‘Chalti Hai Kya 9 Se 12’, ‘Husn Hai Suhana’, and ‘Tujhko Mirchi Lagi’. Furthermore, the very title of Varun’s new film ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ has also been borrowed from a popular song featured in Biwi No. 1.
