Telugu artist-turned-politician Vijayshanti met on Sunday at the residence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Vijay Shanti will join the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday. Vijayashanti started her political career with BJP, then she left BJP and went to TRS and then stayed in Congress. After meeting Amit Shah in Delhi, Vijayashanti will join the party in the presence of party president JP Nadda on Monday.
Vijayshanti will be the second actress to join BJP after Telugu film actress Khushbu leaves Congress to join BJP. According to reports for the last few days Vijayshanti had stopped attending the programs of the Congress party and was angry at not getting any attention.
Vijayshanti started her career with the BJP in 1998. She was then made the general secretary of the women’s wing. At the time of the agitation by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi for the formation of Telangana state Vijayshanti worked very actively with Chandrasekhar Rao.
At the height of the Telangana movement Vijayshanti formed its own party which was named the Telangana Regional Party. However this party did not exist for long.
In 2009, Vijayshanti who was elected Lok Sabha MP from Medak parliamentary seat on TRS ticket.
