After Pawan Singh, Khesari Lal Yadav, and Akshara Singh, Bhojpuri singer Neelkamal Singh has also entered Bollywood. He has sung the song “Chatni”from Ajay Devgn’s latest film Dhamaal 4, which was released in theatres on Friday. The song has become a hit on social media, crossing 21 million views on YouTube in just 20 days.
“Chatni” features vocals by Neelkamal Singh and Mamta Sharma. The lyrics are written by Dheeraj Babuaan, while the music is composed by Neelkamal Singh and Aditya Dev. The song is choreographed by Rahul Shetty.
Neelkamal Singh belongs to Chunni village in Bihar’s Buxar district. His father, Sushil Singh, and mother worked as rural doctors. His father loved music and bought a harmonium in 2001, when Neelkamal was only three years old. Neelkamal loved music from a young age and learned it at home.
His first hit song came in 2003. In 2007, his younger brother died of a heart attack, bringing a difficult time for the family. He stopped singing for a few years before making a comeback in 2010. He later reached the Top 4 of the Bhojpuri reality show Sur Sangram.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, his song “Laika Tohre Ke Papa Kahta” went viral, making him one of the biggest names in Bhojpuri music. His brother Rajkamal Singh said they mixed Western music with Bhojpuri songs, which made them different. Their success caught the attention of T-Series head Bhushan Kumar, who encouraged Neelkamal to sing in Hindi as well.
Neelkamal later worked with T-Series on the song “Ladki Deewani” featuring Sunny Leone. He also sang songs for films starring Ravi Kishan and Madhuri Dixit, as well as a promotional track for Pati Patni Aur Woh. Now, with “Chatni”in Dhamaal 4, Neelkamal has added another Bollywood film to his growing career. Neelkamal’s brother said that Bhushan Kumar sent them the song for Dhamaal 4. After the recording was finished, they requested that Neelkamal also appear in the video. The makers agreed, so fans can now enjoy both his voice and his performance on screen.
