Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh recently avoided giving a direct answer to ongoing rumours about his alleged US citizenship. During an Instagram Live session, a fan suggested that he apply for a US Green Card. Responding with humor, Diljit joked, “I’ll just take a normal card and paint it green.” He added that he did not want to comment on the issue because it would immediately become news.
Diljit also shared that he believes people should be able to travel freely without visas and hoped that one day the whole world would feel united. When another fan jokingly asked him to request US President Donald Trump to arrange citizenship for everyone, Diljit laughed and replied that he is just an artist and cannot solve such matters. He also revealed that Trump’s daughter follows him on Instagram, but he has never spoken to her or asked anyone for favours.
Focus Remains on Satluj Removal
Diljit mainly came live to talk about the removal of his film Satluj from ZEE5. The film was taken down just 48 hours after its release in India. He urged viewers to watch it, saying it tells an important chapter of Punjab’s and India’s history.
Reports claim the film, originally titled Punjab 95, was based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. It reportedly remained stuck for nearly three years over certification issues, with the CBFC asking for 127 cuts, which the makers did not accept. The title was later changed to Satluj, and the film was released on OTT without those edits. According to reports, the government later asked ZEE5 to remove the film because of security concerns and rules under the IT Rules, 2021. Reports say Diljit has been using a US passport since 2022, but he has never confirmed it.
