Actor Aman Kakani was recently seen in a popular TV serial, Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin. He played Shashwat, Lead’s best friend. He did that role really well, making Shashwat a household name. Let’s get some insights from him about the show.
How did you get the role of ‘Shashwat’?
It’s a funny story actually. I stumbled upon the post requirement as I was scrolling through the casting updates. I was fit for the age group and character needs, so I applied for the role. After sometime, I got a message from my casting director that the makers want to see your dancing skills, so I sent them my dance videos. Apparently, they needed someone who knew how to dance because of the script requirements. And after an hour or so, I got the confirmation call about the role. But surprisingly, I did not get to dance at all, as they made some changes in the script, and I had to faint just before the competition. It was hilarious. I got this role based on my dance audition and didn’t get to do that either.
Which is your favorite scene from the serial?
The time I played Rao Sahab in the College Fest episode. Rao Sahab has a deep bass voice, so my director told me to bring out a heavier voice in order to portray the character nicely. After rehearsing a few times, I was ready for the shot. As soon as I heard action, I was all out. I was so zoned in the role that for a minute I actually forgot I was playing the character. After the shot was over, the whole crew started clapping, and Sir even complimented me 5–6 times. It was one of the best moments for me. This is what an artist craves for.
The show has recently taken a leap of seven years. What’s the update on your role? Will we see you playing the same character again?Â
Honestly, I have no idea. I haven’t been notified about this. It’s up to the makers, but I would love to play that role again if I get the chance.
