EARLY LIFE OF LEWIS CAPALDI

Lewis Capaldi was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and lived there until the age of four. His mother, Carol Capaldi, is a nurse and his father, Mark Capaldi, is a fishmonger. He has three elder siblings, two sisters who are mid-wives and a brother who is also a singer. His passion for performing developed when he sang on stage at the age of four on a family trip to France. He learned to play guitar when he was nine. At the age of eleven, he began writing songs and playing gigs by sneaking into pubs with the help of his eldest brother. Finally, he auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent at the age of thirteen.

CAREER

In 2014, Lewis Capaldi took part in a three-date tour as part of the ‘Hit the Road’ project run by ‘The Scottish Music Center. He graduated with an HND in Music from New College Lanarkshire, Motherwell in 2016. In late 2017, Capaldi was named one of Vevo dscvr ‘Artists to Watch 2018’ and he won Best Acoustic at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards. He became famous among the masses with the release of his single ‘someone you loved’ in 2019. It was number one for seven weeks in the UK singles chart.
