China lodged a strong objection when US President Donald Trump called the Corona virus a ‘Chinese’ virus. A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry has warned the US to ‘focus on its work’ before abusing China.
However, the first case of Covid-19 virus was found at the end of 2019 in Wuhan city of China. Till now, one lakh 70 thousand people infected with the corona virus have been detected, of which 80 thousand are from China.
US President Donald Trump tweeted on Monday in which he called the Covid-19 virus a ‘Chinese virus’. Despite China’s opposition, the US President is calling it the Chinese virus. Now in his tweet made a while ago, he has again called it a Chinese virus.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that it is wrong to associate the virus with a particular group or region. However, many US administrative officials are calling it the Chinese virus. Pompio has also called it ‘Wuhan virus’ many times.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang has described Trump’s tweet as ‘blaming China’. He said, “We demand America to rectify its mistake and stop its baseless allegations against China.”
China’s state-run news agency Xinhua says Trump’s language is ‘racist and discriminatory’ and shows ‘the politician’s irresponsibility and incompetence’. This is going to increase fear about the virus. Trump is also being criticized in America. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted that this comment may increase the risk of ‘promoting bigotry’ against Asian Americans.
Relations between the two countries remain tense at this time.
President Trump has consistently accused China of unfair trade practices and intellectual property theft.
At the same time, there is a general perception in China that America is trying to stop it from becoming a global economic power.
Both are engaged in a fierce trade war in which America and China have imposed tariffs on goods worth billions of dollars.
