About – (Shaz Khan) Khan’s parents, Nasir and Huma, emigrated from Islamabad, Pakistan to Oxnard, California, where they raised their son as a Muslim. His grandpa served as an air commodore in the Pakistan Air Force, and his uncle is “one of the greatest F16 pilots of his generation,” therefore he comes from a family of military professionals. Growing up, he shuttled between Pakistan and the United States until settling in the Philadelphia suburbs.
Following graduation from high school, Khan earned a Bachelor of Science in finance from Pennsylvania State University, where he also competed as a member of the collegiate boxing team. The bank where he was employed was part of a Fortune 500 conglomerate, but his tenure there was brief. Khan eventually quit his secure career to pursue acting in New York.
The following years were spent earning a Master of Fine Arts in acting from Pace University’s Actors Studio Drama School. He gained valuable experience through performing in a wide variety of stage productions and small-budget films during this time. Khan became known for going to extremes to fully inhabit his roles. To conduct research for his thesis play Hello Out There, he travelled to a Texas ghost town and spent the night in the area’s haunted jail.
