Tabu is an Indian actress and model who has mainly done Hindi Movies. She is regarded as one of the most accomplished actors of her time. She was awarded Padma Shri by the government of India in 2011
EARLY LIFE
Tabu was born Tabassum Fatima Hashmi on 4 November 1971 in a Hyderabadi Muslim family. She was the second child of Jamal Ali Hashmi, an actor, and Rizwana, a teacher. Her parents divorced soon after she was born. She did her schooling at St. Anns high school, Hyderabad and further completed her education at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.
CAREER
At 14, Tabu had an uncredited appearance in Bazaar (1982) before playing Dev Anand’s daughter in Hum Naujawan (1985). She co-starred with Venkatesh in “Coolie No. 1” in 1991, her debut acting role. Pehla Pehla Pyar (1994), Tabu’s debut film in Hindi as a leading heroine, failed to garner any attention. She gained immense recognition after playing a role in Vijaypath (1994) alongside Ajay Devgan, for which she won Best Female Debut at Filmfare. Tabu had 8 releases in 1996. Saajan Chale Sasural and Jeet, two movies that did well at the box office, were among the top 5 movies of that year. Tabu’s performance in Haider and Andhadhun was named one of the 100 Greatest Performances of the Decade by Film Companion in 2019. She also acted in the family comedy Jawaani Jaaneman (2020), which again starred Saif Ali Khan, with whom she last appeared in a film in 1990. She won praise from critics in 2022 for playing two roles in Anees Bazmee’s horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which had the biggest opening weekend among 2022 Hindi movies.
In November 2022, she revealed The Crew, a new film co-starring Kareena Kapoor and Kriti Sanon.

Tabu has frequently discussed love, marriage, and relationships in her interviews while keeping her personal life secret and a safe distance from the media. The word “single” doesn’t bother Tabu, and she acknowledges that she had to learn about love the hard way. Tabu has never been one for going out. After completing her work, she returns home. She feels a connection to Ajay Devgn and Farah Khan if anyone in the entertainment business exists. She claims that Farah’s home is where she feels most at ease.
