Shashi Tharoor was born on 9 March 1956, in the London United Kingdom. His father Chandan Tharoor originally from Palakad Kerela, worked in various positions in London, Calcutta, and Bombay With 25 years of career in the Newspaper The Statemen.

He joined Montford school in Yercaud in 1962 and later shifted to Mumbai’s Campion school.
He finished his high education at St.Xaveri collegiate school in Kolkata.
Shashi Tharoor graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History from St Stephen College, University of Delhi, then in the same year, he went to pursue M.A in International Relations from Fletcher school of law and Diplomacy. And the next year he obtained a Master’s of Arts in Law and Diplomacy and completed his Ph.D. in International Relations and Affairs in 1978.
Career:
He began his career in United Nations in 1978 as a staff member of the UN high commissioner for refugees in Geneva 1978.
He was the head of the UNHCR office in Singapore from 1981 to 1984.
He was appointed as Undersecretary General for Political Affairs.
In 2009, he won from THIRUVATHAPURAM consistency
He was sworn into Minster of state for external Affairs by the Manmohan Singh government.
Later he was reelected with the same consistency after he was removed from the party in 2019.
