Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s new project “Love and War”

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set for his next project Love and War. After Gangubai Kathiawadi, Bhansali will be working with Alia Bhatt for the second time in this film and this time Alia will star alongside her real-life husband Ranbir Kapoor.

The film also stars strong actor Vicky Kaushal, which has increased the curiosity of the audience. Bhansali told that the film will be based on a love triangle. Recently it was also revealed that it could be a remake of the 1964 classic film Sangam. However, Bhansali has not made any official confirmation about this. Bhansali answered the question of remake

When Sanjay Leela Bhansali was asked by Hollywood Reporter India whether his film ‘Love and War’ is going to be a remake of Raj Kapoor’s classic film Sangam? Then he replies, “Not at all. I love Sangam. I have seen that film. ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ is also like Sangam in a way. I tried to make Aishwarya Rai the Vaijayantimala of ‘Sangam’. Vaijayantimala has been the biggest star. According to me, she is the most beautiful woman to have ever graced the Indian screen.”

Sanjay Leela Bhansali further says that the way Raj Kapoor portrayed Vaijayantimala, Zeenat Aman or Padmini Kolhapure, no director has been able to do so till date. He further says, “I wish I could have met them for 5 minutes. I could have learned so much from them because I am like a sponge… I learn from my actors in the same way.”

Talking about ‘Love and War’, Bhansali says, “This is not Sangam… I have a lot of love for Raj Kapoor, but you don’t remake the work of a great man, a great director. How can you remake ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ or ‘Sangam’? Or ‘Pakeezah’?” Bhansali also reveals that his show Heeramandi was a tribute to Kamal Amrohi from his side.

Bhansali said this about the casting of the film

Regarding the casting of ‘Love and War’, Bhansali says, “Ranbir and I are working together after 18 years. Alia and I have worked together recently. I cannot miss working with Alia because so much can be said through her. The kind of ‘chota packet bada dhamaka’ type girl she is, she can do a lot of great things right now. I am working with Vicky Kaushal for the first time. More than being great actors, all of them are also wonderful human beings. The love I have for them and the love they have for me is still great.”
