The name of the new chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) has been announced. The new chairman of the ICC has now been entrusted with the responsibility of New Zealand cricket chief Greg Barkley. The term of former ICC chairman Shashank Manohar ended in July this year after which Imraj Khawaja was made the interim chairman of the ICC. Now, in his place, Greg Barkley has been entrusted with this responsibility. Greg is the director of New Zealand cricket from the year 2012 and is also a lawyer by profession.
After being elected to the post of new chairman of the ICC, Greg Barkley said, “It is a great honour for me to be elected chairman of the ICC and I would like to thank my fellow ICC directors who supported me. I sincerely hope that we will work together to strive for the best of the game and come out of the epidemic like covid-19 and come out in a good position and try to move forward. Earlier, George Barkley was a representative of New Zealand cricket on the ICC board, but now he will resign from his post and take over as chairman of the ICC.
