The pair of actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Anurag Kashyap is considered to be the funniest pair of Bollywood. Both of them have worked together in very good films which have impressed everyone.
The first film in which both of them worked together was the 2004 film ‘Black Friday’, even though Nawazuddin had a small role in that film, but Nawazuddin’s acting impressed Anurag a lot. Later he was seen working in his films many times. One such film of both of them is ‘Gangs of Wasseypur Part 2’, which the audience still likes very much. The film proved to be a blockbuster. Even today memes are made on ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ in pop culture. Many dialogues of the film are still very famous.
Recently Nawazuddin Siddiqui talked about ‘Gangs of Wasseypur Part 2’ in a podcast. When asked if he had any idea that he was making something different and big, Nawazuddin told what he was thinking during the making of the film. He said, ‘No, not at all. You can never tell this while working on a film. In fact, I did not know even when the film was finished. When I saw the first cut of the film, I thought what have you made. But when I saw the film in Cannes, later when the entire work was done on it, then I understood why Anurag is Anurag.’
Nawazuddin further says, ‘He is a very intelligent man. He changed the face of Hindi cinema and the whole world saw this. He may not be accepted in his own country but sorry, the world knows what he has done.’
In an old interview, Nawazuddin had told that Anurag was not happy with his acting choices in ‘Gangs of Wasseypur 2’. Nawazuddin told that Anurag had told him – ‘What are you doing? Are you mad? How are you doing this? Why is he overacting?’
Recently, the makers of Gangs of Wasseypur have re-released both parts of the film in theatres. The film was released on 30 August.
