EARLY LIFE :
Mohan Kapur was born on Wednesday, 27 October 1965, in Mumbai. His zodiac sign is Scorpio. He was born and brought up in Mumbai.
CAREER :
Mohan became the first South Asian host of the South Asian original programme Saanp Seedi, which aired on Zee TV, and became a household name after hosting the show.
In 2007, he made his debut as a Hindi voiceover artist with the American action-thriller film Live Free or Died Hard. Other Hollywood films which he dubbed include Race to Witch Mountain (2009), G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009), The Karate Kid (2009), and Jurassic World (2015). He has lent his voice as a dubbing artist to many popular Marvel Cinematic Universe films, including Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) and Doctor Strange (2016).In 1996, he made his acting debut with the film ‘Beqabu’ in which he played the role of Zanjarh Singh.
He continued appearing in Bollywood films, including Bodyguard (2011), Raaz 3: The Third Dimension (2012), Jolly LLB (2013), and Happy New Year (2014). American film director Nia DaCosta cast Mohan Kapur to star in the American superhero film ‘The Marvels’ (2023) based on Marvel Comics. In this film, Mohan will play the role of Yusuf Khan. Mohan will share the screen with celebrated actors Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson. Reportedly, the film will release on 28 July 2023
In 2019, he appeared in the Hindi remake of the Israeli series ‘Hostages’ on Disney+ Hotstar. The role earned him a nomination for Gold Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role. In 2021, Mohan played the role of Yusuf Khan, father of Kamala Khan, aka Ms Marvel (which is played by Iman Vellani) in a Disney+ and Marvel Studio mini-series titled ‘Ms Marvel.’ In this mini-series, he co-starred with Yasmeen Fletcher, Laurel Marsden, Matt Lintz, Azhar Usman, Zenobia Shroff, and Saagar Shaikh.
Scriptwriter
In 1997, Mohan worked as a scriptwriter for one of the episodes of the Indian suspense thriller series ‘Saturday Suspense,’ which aired on Zee TV.
PERSONAL LIFE :
Mohan was in a live-in relationship with the TV actress Achinnt Kaur. Reportedly, the couple dated each other for 16 years. In 2015, their relationship went kaput, after which he moved to a different apartment in the same building where Achinnt lived with her son, Preetranjan.
