The first match of the three T20 matches series was played between India and Australia at the Manuka Oval ground in Canberra. In this match team India defeated the hosts by 11 runs. KL Rahul scored the most runs in this match for Team India while in the final overs Jadeja played an explosive innings and brought the team’s score to 161 runs.
However, in the last over of the Indian innings Ravindra Jadeja was hit on the head after which team India got the concession and chahal came on the field to bowl. The match referee approved it. However, the decision of the match referee was not liked by Australian coach Justin Langer and he was seen arguing with match referee during the match.
Actually during the Indian batting the second ball of the last over of the innings hits Jadeja on helmet. But Jadeja continued to bat even after this and he remained at the crease till the last ball.
In the meantime, Jadeja did not take the test and continued his innings. However, a over before jadeja been hurt on the right foot after which it was believed that he could hardly bowl further. After India innings, Jadeja was spotted by the BCCI medical team. The ICC’s match referee then took the decision and allowed Chahal instead of Jadeja on the field.
According to the ICC rules, a concession test can be done even after a team inning break and if the player is unfit, then the team can get a substitute instead. There is also a possibility that the injurie of Jadeja had shown delayed symptoms. On the other hand, Chahal took full advantage of this opportunity and took 3 wickets giving 25 runs in 4 overs.
