Johnny Lever is an Indian actor and comedian. He was born in Prakasam, Andhra Pradesh on 14 August 1957. He was brought up in the King Circle, Dharavi, Mumbai. He couldn't complete his studies and left school in 7th grade because of the financial conditions in his family. His father worked in the Hindustan Unilever where he had also worked for several years.
CAREER
Earlier Johnny was a stand-up comedian in musical shows. At a show, his talent was recognized by the actor Sunil Dutt and he offered him his first film ‘Dard ka Rishta’. ‘Tum par hum Qurban’ was his breakthrough movie. He has done numberless movies till date. ‘Khatta Meetha’, ‘Karan Arjun’, ‘Chalte Chalte’, ‘Asoka’, ‘De Dana Dan’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Golmaal Again’, ‘Total Dhamaal’, ‘Entertainment’, ‘Ishq’, and ‘Raja Hindustani’ are some of his movies. ‘Baazigar’ was one of his successful movies.
He has done TV shows as well. He has also done Live shows all over the world. He also appeared as a judge on the stand-up reality show ‘Comedy Circus’. He is the President of the Mimicry Artist Association Mumbai (MAAM).

Johnny Lever was born in a Telugu- Christian family. He is married to Sujatha Lever. He got married in 1984. His daughter Jamie Lever is an actor, singer and Stand-up comedian. She worked as a marketing executive in London before coming to comedy. His brother Jessey Lever is an actor. His younger brother is also an actor and comedian. Before entering Bollywood, Lever used to work at Hindustan Unilever when he performed at a stage show for a company event.
Thereafter, his colleagues named him ‘Johnny Lever’. Lever is a practicing Christian. When asked about his transition, Lever replied: It was God's will. I had always been a religious person, but one incident changed my life. My son was diagnosed with throat tumor. I was helpless and turned to God for help. I stopped working in films and spent all my time praying for him. Ten days later, when he was taken for a test, the doctors were surprised because the cancer had vanished. It was the beginning of a new life for me. Interestingly, he is a multilingual and can speak Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, English and Tulu. Johnny is the legend of the comical world.
