Alia Bhatt has always won the hearts of the audience with her excellent acting, be it “Gangubai Kathiawadi” or ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’. Now she is seen doing action in her new film ‘Jigra’, in which her acting is once again brilliant.
Story:
The story of ‘Jigra’ does not revolve around a lover-girlfriend, but is based on the unbreakable relationship between brother and sister. Alia Bhatt plays the role of Satya, who loves her younger brother Ankur (Vedang Raina) very much. Their parents die in childhood, and after this tragedy Satya builds a strong protective shield around her brother to protect him which is almost impossible to break.
Both siblings grow up with the support of their Bade Papa (Akashdeep) and Badi Maa (Sheeba). Ankur is sent with Bade Papa’s son Kabir in business, but Kabir is arrested on charges of drugs. Bade papa pressures Ankur to take responsibility for Kabir’s crime, due to which Ankur is sentenced to death. Satya, who loves her brother very much, is ready to do anything to save him. She goes abroad and takes help from legal aid and human rights organizations, but when it does not help, she plans to escape her brother from jail. The further story is based on Satya’s struggle and efforts to save her brother and how Satya is able to save her brother or not will be known only after watching the movie.
Direction:
The director of the film Vasan Bala has given the task of breaking into the ultra-modern security jail with 6000 prisoners to the heroine instead of a hero, which is a different thinking in itself. Satya also has a dialogue in the film “Maine tujhe Rakhi Pehnai hai, Mai teri Raksha Karungi.” The first half of the film is full of emotions and tension, but in the second half the story starts to weaken a bit. The influence of Amitabh Bachchan’s films is clearly visible on Vasan Bala’s film, which is also reflected in the dialogues of the film and the songs playing in the background.
Though the two jail break subplots in the story complicate it a bit, the technical aspects of the film are extremely strong. Anchit Thakkar’s background score, Vikram Dahiya’s action scenes, and Swapnil L Sonawane’s cinematography make the film strong. Satya’s determination to break into the jail and save her brother is impressive and convincing.
Performing:
Alia Bhatt has played an emotional and action-packed role brilliantly in this film. She has brought to life the character of an angry and determined sister, who reflects both her brother’s helplessness and her own strength. Vedang Raina has done a good job as Ankur. Manoj Pahwa has given a brilliant performance as Bhatia, a former gangster, and Akashdeep and Sheeba have also been impressive in their small roles
‘Jigra’ is an emotional and action-packed film, in which Alia Bhatt has once again proved that she can play every role well.
