Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) again brought glory to the country by achieving a major success. ISRO launched the SSLV D3 rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Center located in Sri Harikota, Andhra Pradesh. A new Earth Observation Satellite EOS 8 has been launched from this rocket. Under this mission, ISRO has launched i108 satellite which is an Earth Observing System (EOS) mission. Under this, efforts will be made to keep an eye on the land, biosphere, solid earth, atmosphere and ocean. This will make it easier to detect natural disasters like flood, volcano, tsunami anywhere. This satellite, weighing 175.5 kg and generating approximately 420 watts of power, has been launched using the SSLV d3 IBL 358 launch vehicle. EOS 8 was launched today i.e. 16th August at 9:17. The lifetime of this satellite is said to be one year.
ISRO Chairman S Somnath said that the launch was successful. He congratulated the entire team. He said that SSLVD3 was successful in its third flight test. It failed in its first flight test and passed in the second flight test. The rocket will accurately deliver the satellite into the orbit. With this the development process of SSLV has been completed. This satellite has three payloads, it includes Electro Optical Infrared Payload, Global Navigation Satellites System Reflectometer Payload, SICUV DC Meter.
