After Ayan first worked on the movie Swades, he went ahead and worked on Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. He assisted Karan Johar in this movie. But after that, he took a small break from the movies. He wrote the screenplay of the movie Wake Up Sid. Karan Johar decided to make a film about this. This movie brought the Best Debut Director Award to Ayan Mukerji.Yeh Jawaani H Deewani was the fourth biggest hit of all time back when it was released. He won his second-best director award for this film.
