Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Friday ordered to extend the deadline for night curfew to 1 January in the state. This information was given in an official statement issued here.
Earlier it was decided to impose curfew from 10 pm to 5 am from December 1 to December 15 due to apprehension of the second wave of Covid-19 in the state. In Punjab 549 new cases of corona virus infection were reported on Friday and 29 more patients died of the epidemic.
Taking cognizance of the complaints of non-adherence to the guidelines on the Covid in marriages and other ceremonies, the Chief Minister directed director general of Police Dinker Gupta to strictly adhere to the ban on marital ceremonies and impose fines on violators of the rule.
According to the statement, Singh ordered that not more than 100 people can attend inner event and upto 250 can attend outside (open space) events at the wedding ceremonies to be held within January 1.
Singh said that there is a need to increase the number of investigations in prohibited and micro-prohibited areas to 100 percent. He directed the health department to monitor the farmers who are returning from the demonstration site near Delhi.
